On this day in 1954, during a soccer match between Fiorentina and Pistoiese in Florence, Italy, 10,000 spectators witnessed one of the largest mass UFO sightings in history. The craft were described as cigar shaped, traveling at a high speed before suddenly stopping to hover over the stadium. The event stopped play and lasted for several minutes before the UFOs released a “silvery glitter” that rained down on the stadium, covering everything.
Chemical analysis revealed the substance to contain boron, silicon, calcium, and magnesium. Skeptics claim that the most likely explanation was migratory spiders trapped in the upper atmosphere discharging strands of silk. Seems legit.
