On this day in 1912, in Villisca, Iowa the infamous Villisca Axe Murders occurred. Sometime during the night, an unknown individual crept into the Moore family home, brutally slaying the family of six as well as two of their guests. While there were many suspects, including a suspected serial killer, a US Senator, and a deranged wandering preacher, the case remains unsolved.
