On this day in 1976, David Berkowitz shot two women outside of a New York City nightclub, killing one and wounding the other. The attack marked the first of the “Son of Sam” shootings, in which Berkowitz, allegedly possessed by a demon that inhabited his neighbors dog, killed six people and wounded seven others.
