On this day in 1969, residents of the moon discovered huge, oddly symmetrical footprints with strange horizontal lines on them in the lunar soil. While the origins of the prints remain unknown, moon folklore suggests that they were created by the mythical “Weirdfoot”. No sightings of the creature or its tracks have been reported since.
