On this day in 1731, Cornelia Zanghgeri Bandi finished her dinner and went to bed. Sometime during the night, she arose and burst into flames. Her maid found her the next day, all that remained was the front of her skull, a few fingers, and her feet below the calves. It is one of the earliest documented cases of spontaneous human combustion.
