On this day in 1895, a 50-foot sea serpent was reportedly witnessed in Bellingham Bay, in Washington State. Dubbed “The Sea Snake of Puget”, the creature was observed by numerous New Whatcom residents, many testifying under oath to what they saw. According to reports, the creature was dark brown in color, cylindrical shaped, with a diameter of 14 inches at the widest and tapering down to 2 inches at its bulbous, cup shaped tail.
