On this day in 1945, 74-year-old Middie Rivers, vanishes without a trace while leading a hunting party along the Long Trail near Glastenbury Mountain, Vermont. According to those present, Middie was walking out ahead of the group, went around a turn in the trail, and vanished forever. Over the next five years, five more unexplained disappearances would occur. Modern investigators refer to the region as the Bennington Triangle.
