On this day in 1996 a security guard in a San Mateo, Philippines, karaoke bar shot and killed a patron for refusing to stop an out of key rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”. The killing was one in a series of bizarre murders inspired by terrible karaoke performances. “The My Way Killings”, as they became known, caused the song to be banned in almost every karaoke bar in the Philippines.
