On this day in 1905, James Blackstone of Seattle, bowls 299½. This seemingly impossible score was achieved when on the last frame of a previously perfect game, Blackstone bowled what would have been a strike, however, one pin broke in half leaving the base of the pin standing. Judges awarded him half a point for the pin. While there have been many perfect games, no one has yet reproduced Blackstone’s score.
