On this day in 1945, in Fayetteville, West Virginia, a suspicious fire destroyed the house of the Sodder Family. Five of the Sodder’s nine children where thought to have died in the fire. However, when sifting through the ashes of the house, no human remains were recovered, beginning one of the strangest missing persons cases in history.
