On this day in 1979, in Warren, Minnesota, Deputy Val Johnson encountered a bright light while on patrol on Highway 5. The light accelerated toward his vehicle, passed through his windshield, and collided with Johnson “like a 200-pound pillow”, knocking him unconscious. Johnson said his eyes burned like they were exposed to an arc welder and his teeth were fractured along the gum line. Both his watch and dash clock lost 14 minutes of time and there was significant and unexplainable damage done to his patrol car. It remains one of Minnesota’s most compelling UFO mysteries.
